At the age of 19, she published her first debut single, Here. The song was widely acclaimed by both critics and listeners. It reached number 19 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the single one of its Best Songs in the year 2015. In that same year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being one of five original tracks which peaked on the Billboard charts including those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. It was a special track since, in light of her interview with Rap-Up that she gave many of her listeners were able to relate to her experience in learning to love themselves as well as doubting herself. Cara is known for incorporating the themes of mental health and compassion and self-love in her songs. The music that she has written stems from her personal struggles to conquer mental health issues and insomnia. In an Reuters interview she describes the album as being half turbulent and half perfected. Her growth was aided by a therapy. She advises other people who need help to reach out for assistance. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since 1996. Her parents have Italian origin. Her parents purchased her a brand new guitar, which she used to develop her passion for music. In 2013, she performed her favorite songs for YouTube, a popular media platform. This was to demonstrate that she had the ability and the confidence to be an artist. In fact, one of the covers Sweater Weather ended up getting her attention by a label known as EP Entertainment which allowed her to create and write the songs.
