Alessia Cara
When she was 19 at the time, she dropped her debut single Here. It became a huge hit immediately with both critics as well as the fans were awed by the song. It reached number 19 in both Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the track one of the top Songs of 2015. That same year she debuted her debut album Know It All, the track Scars to Your Beautiful ranked on the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200. It was also one of the original five songs. In an interview that Cara gave together with Rap Up, this song held a lot of meaning for many people listening who were drawn to her story about finding acceptance and appreciation for yourself. Cara's music is known to contain messages of love as well as self-love and mental wellbeing. All of Cara's music stems directly from her struggle with insomnia, mental illness and other health issues. In a Reuters interview, she described the album as being half turbulent and half well-crafted. She found growth through therapy and advises people to seek out help when needed. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since the year 1996. Her parents come from Italian descent. In 2010, her parents gave her a brand-new guitar that she was able to use to further develop her passion for music. In the age of 13, she started covering songs she liked on YouTube to demonstrate to the public that she had talent and brave enough to pursue a career as an artist. Indeed one of the covers Sweater Weather got her attention by a label known as EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create her tracks.
