In the year 2015, at age 19, she released her debut single Here. The single was a hit and received praise from both listeners and critics alike. It reached the top spot at 19th in both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it one of the most memorable songs of the year. The same year, she debuted her album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which reached the top of Billboard charts including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. According to an interview Cara gave in conjunction with Rap Up, the track had lots of significance for a lot people who listened to her story about accepting and loving yourself. Cara's songs often include positive thoughts about mental wellness and how important it is to love yourself. The music of Cara is directly from her struggle with insomnia, mental illness and other health issues. When she spoke to Reuters, she described her album as "half tumultuous" and "half flawless". She claims she has grown through therapy, and encourages anyone else to seek out assistance when needed. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996 to parents with Italian descent. Her first guitar was purchased from her parents at the time she was 10, which ignited her musical passion. Three years later, when she was 13 she started singing her most loved songs on YouTube. It proved to be a fantastic way to showcase to others her talent and courage. In fact, one of her cover tracks Sweater Weather was the song that got her noticed by EP Entertainment. They allowed her to compose as well as record herself music.
