Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born July 11, 1996, to parents with Italian origins. She was given a guitar from her parents at the time she was 10 years old, which sparked her musical passion. In the year 2003, she turned 13 she started singing her most loved songs on YouTube. It was a great way to showcase to others her talent and courage. Sweater Weather is one of the covers that resulted in her being discovered at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label let her write the songs she wrote herself.
