At the age of 19, she released her debut single Here. The single garnered a lot of praise and was well-received by both listeners and critics. It reached 19th place in both Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song among the 2015's Best Songs. That same year, she debuted her album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being one of the five original songs which reached the top of Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track in question was unique due to her interview with Rap-Up many listeners related to her journey through self-doubt and discovering how to love herself. Cara's songs contain messages of love self-love, self-love and mental wellness. The inspiration for her music is drawn from her own personal journey as she has been battling mental health issues and insomnia. According to a Reuters interview, the album was described as halfway tumultuous, half perfected. Her development was assisted through therapy. She also encourages her fellow singers, if needed, to reach out for help. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. Her parents gave her a guitar when she was 10 years old, which ignited her love for music. 2013 was the year she recorded some of her most loved songs on YouTube, a popular platform for media. This was to demonstrate that she had both the ability and the confidence to be an artist. In fact, one of the covers Sweater Weather got her noticed by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to create and write the tracks.
